“Don't Be Scared, Be Prepared” 2013 Art, Essay and Video Contest
For the fifth year in a row, Georgia’s third, fourth and fifth-graders commemorated National Preparedness Month by entering Ready Georgia’s art, essay and video contest. From Sept. 1 through Oct. 18th, students submitted entries that creatively reflected the theme – “Don’t Be Scared, Be Prepared” – and illustrated their personal experiences or knowledge of disaster preparedness.
A team of judges reviewed the entries and selected the top finishers, with first, second and third prizes awarded in the art and essay categories, and one winner and one honorable mention selected in the video category. Winners received prize packages that include a Ready kit (donated by The Home Depot), Build-A-Bear "Cub Cash," AMC Theatres movie passes and refreshment coupons, World of Coca-Cola museum passes, items from the Children's Museum of Atlanta as well as other fun items.
